Ican Grow People

Management & Leadership Development

The Induction Greenhouse is a special place in the garden where new seeds and plants spend their first few days and weeks. It’s their welcome to the garden.

In the Induction Greenhouse new people are protected from the general climate outside (in the day to day business) that all the other plants have  hardened to over time.

Give your Induction Greenhouse plenty of time, care and attention.

How often will you get involved or just “pop in” to see how things are going?

New plants and people into your garden will do exactly the same. They will very quickly form an opinion of you and the business based on early experiences. They will judge the welcome, information, materials, training , support, structure and decide whether it makes them feel comfortable or not.

We have all probably experienced the nice warm greenhouse where support was on demand and every need catered for until we were settled in and then there was the chilly greenhouse with broken panes, untidy in appearance, overgrown with weeds and nettles and the odd slug ready to slobber on us, or a hairy spider who thinks it’s great to scare the life out of the “new one”.

And when you are feeling really down and in need of help there’s no one to be seen or heard of for support.

On a typical Ican Grow People Programme you will get to build your very own Greenhouse based on the needs of your business. Each aspect of the Greenhouse relates to specific aspects of Induction, for example;

Build SIDE "A" = Aims of an induction fro the organisational perspective

Build Side "B" - Benefits of effective inductions for you, the new person and the team / department

Build Side "F" = Leading from the Front - what are the role model behavious and practices of Management in all this?

Build the Back Side "oooer" = What are the basic things you should have in place and cover on the first day - Back to basics regarding Health & Safety and the Welcome etc

Build the Base - Your Induction Greenhouse should be built on firm foundations so what's the Culture and Climate like for doing them?

The Roof - Well, this is at the top and should be at the top of your development list and action plan - what are your strengths and weaknesess in the process

And the nuts and bolts are all the things that hold it together! That is to answer all the questions that a new starter may ask you... at the moment we have 137 nuts (questions) and Bolts (answers). How many do you have?

And here are some greenhouses built by some of our gorgeous plants.
