Harness that work ethic, recognise it in the business, define it as a standard for others to aspire to and make a big deal out of them personally.

 

They can win your business prizes

Share what they do with others. Invest time in getting some recognition for the people within the business. Enter for awards and status / accomplishment “badges”.

 

Show the rest of the business what good looks like

 

Give them prize rosettes or anything else that makes them stand out from the rest

 

Take seeds and cuttings. Grow clones of the best people and take traits, characteristics and behaviours from others and attach them to plants that don’t carry those “genes” or demonstrate their traits

 

Prepare the soil and environment, repeat each year taking on the learning from the previous year

 

Know when and how to harvest the talent

 

Get them involved in your people strategy and tactics like the company induction and training programme

 

Review their performance each year and design a strategy for next year to improve the number of prize vegetables and winning blooms
